Skylight Warranty — VELUX Coverage & Our Labor Warranty
A skylight is a long-term investment. Understanding what is (and isn’t) covered under warranty will help you avoid unexpected repairs, save money, and make informed decisions.
At Skylight Construction Inc., we work with official VELUX products and provide our own professional labor warranty for installation and repair services in Orange County.
This page breaks down everything in simple, clear language — from VELUX glass and frame warranties to flashing coverage, solar components, and our labor protection.
At Skylight Construction Inc., we rely exclusively on the official VELUX warranty guidelines. All product warranty information on this page is taken directly from VELUX documentation. If anything on our website differs from the official VELUX warranty, the VELUX warranty always prevails.
VELUX “No Leak” Skylight System Warranty – At a Glance
According to VELUX, their deck- and curb-mounted Skylight Systems come with the following coverage:
-
10-year installation warranty (No Leak installation warranty when installed with VELUX flashing)
-
20-year glass warranty (glass / glass seal)
-
10-year product warranty (skylight / roof window unit itself)

10-Year No Leak Installation Warranty
For eligible deck- and curb-mounted skylights installed with VELUX flashing, VELUX offers an industry-leading 10-year No Leak installation warranty.
In practical terms, that means:
-
Coverage against leaks caused by the skylight and flashing system when properly installed
-
Three layers of water protection (underlayment, engineered flashing, and built-in seals) are part of the No Leak system design
-
The warranty is issued and backed by VELUX, not by Skylight Construction
20-Year Insulated Glass Warranty
VELUX covers the insulated glass unit (IGU) against:
-
Seal failure
-
Moisture or fogging between the panes
-
Glass manufacturing defects
The 20-year term applies to most VELUX skylights and roof windows equipped with factory-sealed insulated glass. Certain laminated and specialty glass types may include additional performance protection as described in their warranty documents.
10-Year Product Warranty
VELUX provides a ten-year warranty on the skylight or roof window product itself. This typically includes:
-
The frame
-
Sash components
-
Structural elements
-
Factory-installed hardware
This warranty covers manufacturing defects in the skylight construction.
5-Year Warranty on Shades & Controls
VELUX shades, blinds, remotes, motors, and operating controls are covered for five years.
This includes:
-
Solar shades
-
Electric shades
-
Remote controls
-
Wall switches
-
Operating accessories
Exact coverage depends on the specific model and production year.
Sun Tunnel® Skylights & Roof Windows
VELUX also extends warranty protection to Sun Tunnel® skylights and roof windows. Coverage varies depending on glass type and product configuration but generally aligns with standard VELUX warranty terms:
-
20 years on insulated glass (where applicable)
-
10 years on product
-
5 years on shades and controls
Always refer to the official VELUX documents for the model in question.
Skylight Construction – Workmanship Warranty
In addition to the official VELUX warranty, Skylight Construction provides a separate workmanship warranty on installation labor.
If an issue arises due to installation workmanship rather than product failure, our team will address it under our labor warranty terms.
For detailed coverage, please refer to your proposal or installation contract.
